200 years ago 60,000 people had gathered to peacefully demand the vote and representation in Parliament. Men, women and children walked from towns and villages in and around Greater Manchester. It is still one of the biggest demonstrations in British history.

18 people were killed and hundreds injured. The massacre became known as Peterloo.
