RECLAIM Board Statement Youth leadership charity RECLAIM is recruiting a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the charity through its next stage of development. After more than 10 years at the helm, founder Ruth Ibegbuna will step down at the end of April. The charity, which began working with 45 boys from Moss Side, Manchester, in October 2007, has since expanded across the country and supported working class young people to campaign for social change everywhere from the Houses of Parliament to Canary Wharf.RECLAIM is looking for a pioneering, authentic leader with operational expertise who can build on the charity’s strong, mission-based foundations and grow the organisation nationally. The position for CEO is now open and applications are being taken here. Chair, Gwen Ventris, said: “Ruth has been an incredible advocate for working class young people over the last 10 years, impacting thousands of lives and encouraging young leaders to be seen, heard and lead social change in their communities.“Ruth will remain a friend and champion of RECLAIM as we move to the next phase of the charity’s growth. “I believe we have reached a pivotal point in society where it is no longer acceptable for a post code to determine an individual’s future. It is crucial young people from all backgrounds have a say on how our country is run and we look forward to welcoming applications from strong leaders who can grow the organisation’s presence nationally.” Ms Ibegbuna said:“RECLAIM has been my heart and my soul for over a decade and the young people we've supported are my greatest source of pride “We've built a charity with ethical, strong, community foundations; we've watched working class children soar, we've challenged inequality and rejected pity. We've marched for social justice and wept for child refugees. “We've called out empty rhetoric and illustrated a spirited northern powerhouse; thinking critically, acting boldly and talking about class when no one cared to listen. “RECLAIM is the most wonderful organisation and I leave as the proudest CEO in the UK, but it's finally time to hand over the reins. “I am ready to pass the mantle onto a pioneering, courageous and authentic leader who can help to grow our mission and stay true to our core values. “I will remain a close friend and Patron of RECLAIM while continuing to campaign about social change and the glories of the North. “Thank you to all who have been my friends, supporters, critics and mentors.” Applications are open until February 28th at midday and preliminary interviews will take place on the 12th March 2018.
