Samuel (16) wins the 2016 ‘Equalities Award’ at the Spirit of Manchester Awards for his invaluable contribution to RECLAIM’s ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign.

A September to remember! We are incredibly proud to announce that our wonderful young leader Samuel Remi-Akinwale was voted winner of the ‘Equalities Award’ last week. Shortlisted along with two other fantastic nominees (Inspiring Change Manchester and Awaaz Community Radio), the community voted, and our Samuel took home the prize!

Samuel was nominated for his commitment to tackling inequality, which he demonstrated by boldly leading our ‘Enough is Enough’ campaign. The campaign remembered Stephen Lawrence, challenged racial discrimination and let the city know that young people will continue to fight for equality.

Last year, Samuel popped up on phone boxes across the city centre as part of the campaign, and received extremely positive responses from the public and peers for his much needed bravery in tackling discrimination.

Our young people voluntarily give their time to challenging the status quo and ending leadership inequality. We are always in awe of their leadership, but it was lovely for Samuel to see that his community are behind him too!

Thank you to those who voted, for everyone’s ongoing support, and of course to Samuel and all of  our inspiring working class young leaders.

“Manchester has not forgotten you Stephen Lawrence" Samuel
